CENIT GmbH CAD/CAM Integration und Organisation is founded on 01/04/1988 by Falk Engelmann, Norbert Fink, Hubertus Manthey, Rüdiger Passehl and Andreas Schmidt.

1989

Branch office established in Munich.

1991

IBM acquires 9.1% of the share capital of CENIT GmbH as part of a strategic investment.

Branch office established in Saarbrücken.

1994

CENIT is first awarded as the most successful CATIA business partner of IBM in Germany.

1995

History of 1998 - 2002

1998

Conversion into a "Aktiengesellschaft", initial public offering on 6 May 1998 on the Neuer Markt in Frankfurt/Main.

2000

Branch offices established in Hamburg and Berlin.

 

 

 

 

 

 As part of an international focus, CENIT founds a subsidiary in Switzerland, takes over Desktop Engineering Ltd. (GB), Spring Technologies S.A. (France) as well as L&H Consultants Inc. (Canada). Soon, however, this inorganic growth is recognised as unhelpful to the company, and CENIT separates itself again from all international entities except for the Swiss subsidiary, which still exists today.

 

 

 

2001

AIRBUS Deutschland GmbH switches to computer aided design, and places a large order with CENIT.

2002

Contract signing in Stuttgart for the strategic alliance of Dassault/IBM/CENIT. In particular, the closer cooperation should hereby be more focused with regard to sales, consulting and development.

2003

CENIT expands partnership with SAP Product Lifecycle Management.

 

 

 

 

CENIT receives admission to trade in the Prime Standard, the successor of the Neuer Markt on the Deutsche Börse.

2004

CENIT is the most successful FileNet partner in EMEA, thereby defending its leading position in Europe. CENIT thus climbs to second place worldwide for enterprise content management solutions from FileNet. 

2005

PLM Alliance: CENIT, CIDEON, DSC and .riess engineering will offer collective solutions around SAP and PLM. The leading PLM development partners of SAP AG in Europe establish a cooperation for the collective development and implementation of special solutions in the SAP PLM area. CENIT and FileNet expand partnership. FileNet incorporates CENITs monitoring solutions worldwide into its sales portfolio as an OEM product.

2006

CENIT increases its capital from 4,183,892 EUR to 8,367,785.00 EUR on 31 August 2006.

 

 

 

 

 

 

CENIT establishes a PLM training centre for the European automotive and aerospace industry in Romania (Iasi). With the startup, CENIT responds to the needs of the European automotive and aerospace industries.

 

 

 

 

 

CENIT and AIRBUS intensify their cooperation. At the beginning of 2006, CENIT receives the largest single order in the history of the company from AIRBUS. At the same time, the two partners sign a so-called "prime supplier" contract with AIRBUS Germany, which lifts CENIT into the status of a preferred IT supplier.

2007

With the founding of the subsidiary in France, Toulouse CENIT expands its activities particularly in the area of EADS Airbus and its suppliers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

"Best of Information On Demand Showcase Award" is awarded to the CENIT software solution EWORKS (now called ECLISO). Any solutions from IBM partners worldwide, in which the latest information management technology was used in order to present a unique and high-performance information-on-demand solution, were considered. The "IBM Information On Demand Conference" is the most important information management event for customers and partners of IBM.

History of 2008 - 2012

2008

CENIT and Right Hemisphere announce a global partnership. In focus: the automatic integration of CAD data with data from other business areas.

 

CENIT takes over the PLM service provider cad scheffler, Oelsnitz. CENIT gains a branch office in Oelsnitz through the acquisition.

2009

CENIT software receives an award from BAE Systems – FASTTIP is the "Innovation of the Year". Defence contractor BAE Systems achieves a time saving of 50 per cent thanks to a 3D offline programming solution from CENIT.

2010

The shareholders' meeting on 28 May 2010 resolves to change the company name. CENIT now trades exclusively under the name "CENIT AG". The "Systemhaus" ending is completely omitted.

Acquisition of business intelligence and performance management consultancy conunit. CENIT thus expands its service portfolio with the promising "business intelligence and analytics" area.

2011

CENIT AG acquires Transcat PLM AG, Switzerland. The software and consulting specialist expands its PLM portfolio and strengthens itself in the Swiss market. The CENIT AG headquarters (Switzerland) moves to Effretikon, and there is now an additional office in Yverdon-les-Bains. 

CENIT expands business activities in the Asian market and establishes a subsidiary in Japan. The focus of the Asian subsidiary is on software and consulting solutions in the product lifecycle management field.

 

 

 

 

 

CENIT AG receives a credit rating of 1. The independent rating agency Hoppenstedt Kreditinformation awards the top ranking for outstanding creditworthiness.

2012

CENIT partners with Alfresco. To complement the "classic" ECM systems, CENIT now also has Alfresco Enterprise Edition products in their portfolio.

2013

This year marks the 25th anniversary of CENIT AG. On the occasion of our company anniversary, we would like to thank all of our business partners, customers and employees, who have accompanied us on our journey. We look forward to the upcoming challenges and projects with you!

2014

CENIT AG acquires SPI Numérique, a French software development company. Upon the acquisition, CENIT gains a new location in Lyon and also extends its PLM solutions portfolio with the software cenitSPIN. The new CENIT software is an intuitive, user friendly PLM desktop that combines the most commonly used PLM engineering functionalities in one solution. This enables users to easily obtain maximum transparency  about all relevant information in the development process.
