The PLM Roadmap to the Digital Value Chain

CENIT at the Hannover Messe / Hall 6, Booth L30

Stuttgart, March 22, 2017 – At this year’s Hannover Messe (Hall 6, Booth L30), software and consulting specialist CENIT will present a mature strategic and operative approach to establishing 4.0-ready PLM business strategies. Core elements are a value chain-oriented PLM concept, process-focused integration of Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE with the SAP platform, and pre-configured use cases for lean, agile and efficient introduction of PLM solutions in business enterprises.

The PLM Solution for End2End Processes

Future-proof, proactive approaches to the Industry 4.0 age demand efficient and flexible workflows from product development to production to post-sales services. Clean master data, optimized product structures and secure end-to-end processes are decisive competitive factors in this field. At the Hannover Messe, CENIT will present proven solutions for PLM-based digital engineering along the entire value chain.

What’s special about this is that CENIT combines open consulting on developing a digital PLM concept with pre-configured solution components and services that can be used as a basis for agile implementation of a PLM strategy, or as elements of a larger, complex project. In this way, development of the digital roadmap can be supported by quick wins when expanding existing PDM solutions as soon as the wider guidelines are defined. “We have a clear approach: We don’t want to sell piecemeal software – we want to make sure that our client businesses can realize improvements and optimizations along their individual value chains. For this, they need the right PLM strategy, and based on it the right software, which we can implement and operate for our clients”, says Horst Heckhorn, Business Development Executive at CENIT. “We tailor this concept to suit different business sizes”, adds Martin Thiel, Head of CENIT’s 3DS-PLM Business Segment.

Optimized Business Processes with 3DEXPERIENCE and SAP

The goal is to build business success on the basis of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform combined with the leading global ERP system, while simultaneously avoiding interface and system interruptions. CENIT’s objective is to develop practicable and efficient strategies towards achieving this goal.

At the HMI, CENIT’s specialists will present integrated process scenarios for the 3DEXPERIENCE and SAP platforms along the entire value chain. Based on concrete use cases, CENIT will show e.g. how cross-platform dashboards can be used as perfect control elements for decision-makers in product development and change processes. The core value of these use cases is that they deliver a seamless control system for business processes and consistent, lossless management of master data and product structures across the two platforms. Clients no longer need to choose between running PLM in the Dassault Systèmes or SAP world – instead, they are free to manage each process role via their “home application”, along with all the associated tasks and in the correct data context.

Efficiency Thanks to Pre-Configured Scenarios and Use Cases

Many businesses are looking for the ideal design approach to their digital PLM processes. At the expo, CENIT will showcase how pre-configured templates for concrete use cases can enable a quick and lean start to scalable PLM solutions, even for medium-size enterprises.

“One could describe our approach as “ready to grow”: The pre-configured PLM scenarios and use cases contained in our solutions are based on a wide range of client projects and best practices from a variety of industries, meaning that we already achieve a rapid definition of processes in the very first step. Via our agile work methods, we are then able to optimally customize this pre-configuration to specific client requirements using the cenitSPIN Configuration Engine. This avoids drawn-out IT projects and instead produces quick, valid results. For clients who rely on the 80:20 rule, we are able to realize PLM intro projects within 30 man-days”, explains Martin Thiel, Head of the 3DS-PLM Business Segment at CENIT.

The high number of pre-configured templates prevents snowballing customization projects, which sustainably reduces operating costs. “Lean introduction, quick user-side benefits, low operating costs and long-term flexibility in expanding the solution – that’s how we define PLM 4.0”, says Martin Thiel. Horst Heckhorn adds: “With PLM 4.0, we offer our clients a firm foundation for Industry 4.0 projects by empowering digital engineering along the entire value chain.”
