3DEXPERIENCE for the Aviation Industry

Bringing the Supply Chain to Flight Altitude

Stuttgart, May 9, 2019 – Brilliant outlook for the aviation industry: increasing passenger numbers, new technologies and full order books for aircraft manufacturers promise soaring profits over the next few years. However, wherever potential comes about, new challenges appear in the course of digitalization. Suppliers can now counter this with a consistent, secure and high-performance software landscape. This requires a standard database.

In the field of aviation, as in other industry sectors, a smoothly running supply chain is crucial. Companies must be more efficiently organized - especially with regard to their entire digital value creation processes. It basically depends on the particular company whether high data availability is regulated or the entire digital strategy will be reviewed under the microscope and developed.

What this means for the supply chain is, among other things, harmonizing organizational and technical aspects and consolidating knowledge so that it is available to the company long-term. Not to mention coordinating strategies and processes during the course of a unified path. In view of the various actors, the topic of IP protection plays a significant role in the aerospace environment. Currently, much is being regulated via NDAs so that knowledge is not passed on unauthorized to third parties. On the basis of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from Dassault Systèmes, for example, it can be assured that the IP in fact stays within the company or the association.

With the growing trend to digitalization, the value of a consistent, secure and high-performance software landscape is on the rise. Because it supports companies in their efforts to improve human interaction with optimized digital processes and maximizes the availability of data and information. However, the focus continues to be on the human: Only when all the necessary data is available at the right place, at the right time and in the right quality can employees concentrate on their core competencies and use the new IT and software options optimally for their tasks.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform unites all of these requirements: It guarantees digital continuity within a company, because it allows a mapping of the complete product life-cycle - from the idea, to design, simulation, FEM calculations, production and finally sales, marketing and maintenance. To make this possible, companies need a solid and consistently maintained database. Its purpose is to provide an indispensable source of knowledge for all processes.

What particularly stands out here is CENIT’s ability to close the gap between the requirements of the OEMs and the associated process-related and IT-based challenges for medium-sized suppliers. “We are familiar with the processes of both parties and are able to build efficient bridges here using suitable software solutions - that can be attributed to the main goal of process efficiency”, states Martin Buchholz, PLM Expert Aviation at CENIT.

After acquiring KEONYS in 2017, CENIT is the only accredited aerospace partner of Dassault Systèmes, for the German, Austrian and Swiss region as well as the Benelux countries, France and Romania.
