On May 27, 2021, the Chairman of CENIT AG’s Management Board, Kurt Bengel, announced that he would not renew his contract, which expires at the end of 2021. After more than 33 years with the company and 15 years at its helm, the CEO – who is also the longest-serving CENIT employee – will bid farewell a few months from now.
“This was a carefully considered decision,” Kurt Bengel told his CENIT colleagues around the globe. He believes it’s time to pass the baton to another runner – even though “goodbyes are always painful, even when you look forward to them”, says Bengel in quoting Arthur Schnitzler.
Kurt Bengel will act in a consulting and supporting capacity during the search for a successor to the CEO position – on his own wishes and also in response to a specific request from the Supervisory Board of CENIT AG.
15 Years at the Helm
Graduate Engineer Kurt Bengel joined CENIT on July 1, 1988 as the very first employee. He became a member of the Management Board on January 1, 2007 and has acted as CEO of CENIT AG since July 31, 2012. In this position he has been in charge of investor relations and marketing as well as CENIT’s operative international business.
Kurt Bengel will continue to fully exercise his duties as CEO until December 31, 2021. A seamless handover of responsibilities to his successor will be an important task as well, he says. The Management Board will collaborate closely with CENIT’s management team to ensure a smooth transition.
In the name of our global team, we at CENIT thank Kurt Bengel for his outstanding commitment to our company – and we look forward to working together during the coming months.
